Medicare Plans FAQs
What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?
Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with an all-in-one private plan, often with extra benefits and low premiums but network restrictions. Medigap supplements Original Medicare, covering its gaps with any doctor that accepts Medicare, at a higher premium.
When can I enroll in Medicare?
Your Initial Enrollment Period is the 7 months around your 65th birthday. The Annual Enrollment Period (Oct 15 – Dec 7) lets anyone switch plans, and Special Enrollment Periods apply after moves or losing coverage.
Do Medicare Advantage plans really cost $0?
Many do have a $0 monthly premium — you still pay your Part B premium, and costs come as copays when you use care. An agent can show the true total cost for your situation.
